Nova Scotia Bucket List
Annapolis Valley - Bay of Fundy - Lunenburg - Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia
As charming a place as you’ll ever visit! This is Nova Scotia and this 4-day package takes you to some of the provinces best known destinations but with a unique twist. By traveling in small personal groups we explore regions that many locals themselves are not familiar with. Together we will experience quaint and colorful fishing villages, hike coastal headlands in search of frolicking whales offshore, sip and dine in locally owned eateries and be amazed by the highest tides in the world at the Bay of Fundy – one of Canada’s natural wonders.
There is no shortage of history and eerie tales about this rugged exposed cove. Over the years the people here have had their share of ups and downs, including the tragedy of Swiss Air 111. We venture through a landscape transformed some 12,000 years ago by glaciers. Hiking through the coastal barrens we will learn about the unique vegetation in this area and the wildlife that calls this stark landscape home. Keep your camera handy as you never know when you may spot a whale or seals playing just off the coast here.
Another of our spectacular hikes is to Gaff Point. Our travels take us through a coastal forest and barren land as well as a number of coves where high rugged cliffs drop to the sea. A perfect place to spot whales and seals playing off the Atlantic coast as you pass your feet over petrified seafloor and fossilized ancient trees. The second half of our day takes us to lovely Lunenburg. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995, Lunenburg is one of the premier places to visit when traveling to Nova Scotia.
We cover a lot of ground on our way to the incredible sight of Cape Split, where the land has separated itself from the peninsula due to the forces of the Bay of Fundy, home to the highest and most powerful tides in the world. Also on this day we get the opportunity to see the Minas Basin from the Valley Look-off, so don’t forget to pack your camera as bald eagles are often seen soaring overhead. Blomidon offers great scenery where 300 foot red sandstone cliffs tower over a beautiful beach.
A more leisurely day to rest our feet and enjoy the tastes of the valley in the form of fresh seasonally inspired dishes and local fine wines to tickle your taste buds. The view alone from the Crush Pad Bistro at the Luckett Vineyards will leave you speechless, compliment that with world-class food and you have a winning combination to wrap up our incredible 4-day journey together.
What others have to say:
A bit of everything
We saw a bit of everything Nova Scotia had to offer – beach walks, sailing on the Eastern Star with Keith and crew, walking food tours, the Farmers Market, Peggy’s Cove, museums, short hikes to lovely lookout points for memorable photos. Ryan was very personable and tailored the trip for our group. His pride and historical knowledge of Nova Scotia is apparent and left me with a feeling of wanting to return with my family.
