This 4-day long tour is packed full of adventure with many options to add such activities as whale watching, sea kayaking, Bird Islands boat tour or just take time to relax on one of the world’s most beautiful islands, Cape Breton Island.

Traveling around the Cabot Trail we take the opportunity to see this inspiring landscape by hiking some of the many trails that showcase these coastal mountains and breathtaking ocean views. Along our journey we search for the graceful moose, Cape Breton’s largest land mammal. This is course is not the largest mammal in the area. That title belongs to our friends in the ocean waters surrounding these lush highlands. Keep your eyes open while on the coast as these waters are home to a number of species of whales, most frequently seen are the playful pilot whales, but one can also see Minke, Humpback, Fin whales and even curious seals.

We also have the option to get out onto the Atlantic Ocean by way of sea kayak or join a boat tour to visit the Bird Islands to spot Grey Seals, Puffins and Bald Eagles and learn about the late great Alexander Graham Bell and what drew him to this awe inspiring island. This tour is the ultimate way to experience Cape Breton and the world famous Cabot Trail and will sure to be the highlight of your vacation here in Canada’s ocean playground, Nova Scotia.

Trail Rating: Varying degrees of hiking trails on this 4-day tour. Many of the trails consist of exposed rocks and roots, some inclines, coastal forests and rocky beaches. Other hikes are in barren landscapes where sunscreen is a must and maybe windy at times.

About Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia

* Rated #1 island destination in North America.
* Ranked as an "Island Paradise" in Fodor's Travel News 2008.
* Rated #2 Island in the world by National Geographic's Traveler Magazine.
* Rated the most beautiful island and amongst the most friendly people in the world by   Conde Nast Traveler magazine!

Cape Breton Island is composed mainly of rocky shores, rolling farmlands, glacial valleys, barren headlands, mountains, mixed forests and highland plateaus. Geological evidence suggests that at least part of the island was originally joined with present-day Scotland and Norway, now separated by millions of years of continental drift.

The residents of Cape Breton can be grouped into five main cultures; Scottish, Mi'kmaq, Acadian, Irish, and English. English is now the primary spoken language, though Mi'kmaq, French and Gaelic are still heard. In fact it is said that more people speak the Gaelic language in Cape Breton then in all of Scotland. The Celtic music and culture of Cape Breton is very much alive today. Cape Breton is well known for its traditional fiddle music and céilidhs are celebrated across the island.

Though founded on the industries of fishing and mining, Cape Breton has become an international symbol in the tourism industry and for good reason. This island is home to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park and the world famous coastal mountain drive, the Cabot Trail. With such natural beauty, various wildlife and lively culture, Cape Breton Island has gained recognition as being one of the most beautiful island destinations in the world.
